Cementitious Waterproofing Membrane
Cementitious membrane is a proven cement based waterproofing solution designed for internal wet areas that require dependable and long-lasting protection.
Applied directly onto concrete or masonry, the system forms a solid waterproof barrier beneath tiles and finishes. As a result, it helps prevent water from penetrating floors and walls while protecting the structure underneath.
Cementitious waterproofing is particularly suitable for wet areas with minimal structural movement. Its compatibility with concrete, masonry and tiled construction also makes it a practical choice for both new construction and refurbishment projects.
What Is Cementitious Membrane?
Cementitious membrane is a cement-based waterproofing system that we mix and apply directly onto concrete or masonry surfaces.
Once cured, the material forms a hard, water-resistant layer that helps prevent water penetration. Because the system bonds well with mineral-based surfaces, contractors commonly use it beneath tiles in bathrooms, toilets, kitchens and other wet areas.
It works best in areas with minimal movement, where a rigid waterproofing layer can provide reliable long-term protection.
Key Benefits of Cementitious Membrane
Designed to prevent water from seeping through floors and walls in wet areas
Creates a solid waterproof layer beneath tiles to protect the structure
Helps reduce the risk of recurring leaks when applied correctly
Safe for indoor use once cured
Commonly used as part of professional wet-area waterproofing works
Cementitious Membrane Application Method
-
1
Prepare the surface
First, our team inspects the surface for cracks, loose material, dirt and other defects that could affect the waterproofing system. We then clean and prepare the area to create a sound and stable base for the membrane. -
2
First Membrane Layer
Next, we mix the cementitious waterproofing material according to the required specification. Our team then applies the first coat evenly across the prepared surface to create the initial waterproofing layer.
We pay particular attention to corners, joints and other critical areas where water penetration may occur. -
3
Reinforcement Layer (As Required)
Where additional strength or crack control is required, we install reinforcement over critical areas or across the treated surface.
The reinforcement helps strengthen vulnerable sections of the waterproofing system and improves continuity around joints, corners and other high-risk areas. -
4
Second Membrane Layer
Once the first layer is ready, we apply the next coat over the treated surface. This additional layer helps build up the waterproofing system and provides more consistent coverage.
Where reinforcement has been installed, the second coat covers and integrates it into the waterproofing layer. -
5
Final Membrane Layer
Finally, we apply the final coat to complete the waterproofing system. Once fully cured, the multiple layers form a continuous water-resistant barrier beneath the finished surface.
